We spent Christmas Eve with my family. It was funny because when my older brother Chad arrived he had a 32 oz "cold drink" (soda) in hand. It was part of his Christmas present to my parents. You see growing up Daddy most of the time had a "cold drink" in his hands. He also always made sure that Mama had the most presents under the tree, even if it meant wrapping a lot of silly gifts like toilet paper, Cheez-Its, black licorice or anything else he could think of to stack the odds for my mom.
We all had a good laugh and it got me thinking. As I drove home I couldn't help, but let my mind wander to Christmases past.
-Fires in the fireplace no matter how hot is was outside.
-Little Grandma's peanut butter fudge.
-Daddy reading the story of our Savior's birth while the little ones dressed the parts.
-The Merry Christmas sign across the lake.
-Christmas Tree Lane.
-I'm Dreaming of a Florida Christmas.
-Being allowed to open just one present on Christmas Eve and it always had something to do with sleeping. Most of the time it was pajamas.
-Mama's pasta fagioli soup and cheese garlic bread.
-Decorating the service Christmas tree.
-Hanging our special glass ball name ornaments Mama handmade on the tree.
-Mama's typos in the Christmas song book.
-Hearing Santa's sleigh bells, seeing snow on the ground and knowing it was almost time for sugar plums to dance in my head.
These are a few of my favorite things!
