Next month is Kaitlyn's fourth birthday and tonight I asked her if we could skip it. Baffled she asked what did skip mean. I explained that I wanted her to stay little forever. That is when she laughed at me and said "you're silly mommy, I can't do that". Even a soon-to-be four year old knows that she can't stay little forever and my heart ached a little more this evening.
